What are the differences in the different rate types per unit?
Mostly the proximity of the ocean. All units are similar in size and include a washer / dryer and storage area on the first floor. See PROPERTY LAYOUT

How long is the drive from Miami International Airport or Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport?
Allow yourself 2-3 hours to get to Miami International Airport (110 miles) or Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport (135 miles).

Rush hour in Miami & Fort Lauderdale is Between 6:30 am – 9:30 am, and 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm. Add 1 hour of travel time during these periods.

From Cocoplum to Key West. It will take a beautiful one hour to drive to Key West that features a trip over the famous 7 Mile Bridge. Travel slowly on the roads of Deer Key because the Key Deer is an endangered species!

 

Do you allow pets or smoking in any of the villa's?
Sorry but we do not allow pets anywhere on the property or smoking inside any villa. If you must smoke it is allowed on the screened on porches of every villa. But not inside any of the air-conditioned space. If we do find evidence of pets or smoking inside a villa we will charge a $250 cleaning fee and possible eviction you without a refund.

Do you have boat dockage on site?
Yes, we have 9 deep water boat docks on site. We have plenty of parking to dry dock your boat on your trailer or just the trailer and park it across the street in our open lot and use the free public boat ramp approximately one mile from here on US-1 Bayside between the Quay and the Island Restaurants. Also a very nice ramp just 1/3 mile away on Cocoplum Drive on Avenue I. No additional fees for trailer parking which is included in the $3 a day resort fee.

How many people per villa? What are the bedding arrangements?
Strict maximum occupancy is 6 people per villa. The master bedroom has a queen bed that sleeps 2. The guest room has queen bed that sleeps 2 AND a twin bed that sleeps 1. In the living room there is a queen-size sleeper sofa that sleeps 2. We do not offer any additional roll-a-ways or cots in any villa.

What disposable products and amenities do you supply (toilet paper, soap, dish detergent, etc.)?
We supply the following items only: More of these items are available at the front office at no additional charge if you run out during your stay.

As well as laundry detergent to do one load of towels or linens during your stay.

More of these items are available for your convenience at the front office for an additional charge. We recommend that you purchase these items at the local grocery store at a more reasonable cost.

When are your lowest rates?
Our lowest rates are from September until mid-December. See our RATE SHEET for specific information. We also run SPECIALS from time to time throughout the year.

Can guests visit us while we stay at Cocoplum?
No! We are a quiet small Resort. Our units and amenities are only large enough to handle our occupancy of 6 people per unit. Any guests who violate this strict policy will be asked to leave immediately and no refund will be given.

Are the units well-equipped?  What else do i need to bring with me?
All units have fully-equipped kitchens (including full size refrigerator, oven and cook top, microwave, blenders, coffee maker (with filters) and toaster). The kitchen has all the pots & pans, plates, silverware, knives and a cutting board for your cooking needs. All bath and bed linens are supplied. We do not supply beach & pool towels, BUT we do sell beach some great large beach towels in the office as souvenirs.

Is there daily maid service?
No, our units are your "home away from home." We clean the unit at the end of your stay. During your stay each units have their own laundry room if you want to freshen up your towels or linens. If you request additional cleaning there will be a charge of $50 and you will receive fresh towels and linens. This extra service must be requested in advance.

What is the average climate and weather in the Florida Keys?
Wherever you are right now, chances are the weather is better here in the Florida Keys. That's true even on a summer day. The hottest it's ever been in Key West is 97° F (36° C), and that was way back in 1880. At the peak of summer, the average high is 89° F (32° C). We don't have any super-highways or urban sprawl to radiate the sun's heat. Not only that, but our islands are surrounded by cooling ocean waters.

VIEW MONTHLY AVERAGES

Wise Floridians from the mainland flock to the Keys on steamy weekends because the air is usually a few degrees cooler here. The water temperature might be in the mid-80s (30° C) but the sea is nevertheless refreshing for swimming, snorkeling or diving. In the winter, cold fronts can bring frost to mainland Florida, but you can be sure there will be no frost here. The all-time record low for Key West is 41° F (5° C) set in 1981. Divers or snorkelers usually get by with a "shortie" wet suit.

During these winter months, it almost never rains. By late May, however, the season's first thundershowers start popping up. Rarely do they stick around long enough to spoil an entire day.

You might be wondering about the Atlantic hurricane season, which can affect the Atlantic and Gulf coasts of the United States as well as the Caribbean and the Bahamas. The official hurricane season begins June 1st and ends on November 30. Traditionally, the highest potential for storms is between Aug. 15 and Oct. 15. However, the daily weather during this period tends to be some of the most beautiful of the year.

Is there a shuttle to Key West or Fort Lauderdale?

Where can we swim with the dolphins?

Where are the closest dive shops?
The closest dive shops are Middle Keys Scuba and Deep Blue Dive Shop on Key Colony Beach. For more information see our LIST OF DIVING AND SNORKELING INFORMATION

Do you rent water sports equipment (jet skis, para-sails, etc.)?
No, we do not rent water sports equipment. The nearest rental facilities are Island Tiki Bar & Restaurant and R & R Water Sports.

Is there a restaurant or bar on site?

Is there internet access?
Yes, we have Wi-Fi internet service on the property. It is included in your $5 a day (per villa) resort fee. When you arrive you will need to get the WEP security code at the front desk at check in.

Are there hair dryers & irons in the units?
Each unit has one(1) hair dyer. You may sign out an iron at the front office for the duration of your stay.

Is there an on site tennis pro? Do you provide tennis racquets and balls?
Our tennis courts are meant for impromptu games for guests only with no lessons or pre-planned matches. We do not take reservations for tennis court time and it is done on a first come first serve basis. Note there is rarely a long wait to use the court. We do provide used tennis racquets and used balls free of charge. If you are an advanced player you may want to bring your own racquet and a new can of balls.

Are there DVD or VCRs available?
Each unit is equipped with one or the other. Please come into the office during normal business hours to request the DVD or VCR.

Is there parking on site?

Yes, each villa is allowed 1 vehicles. Any additional vehicles, oversized vehicles and trailers will need to park across the street in the canal property where the docks are located. Parking is a first come, first serve, close to your villa. Parking passes are required. for every vehicle and trailer on site. We have plenty of parking for cars, boat trailers and oversized vans. ALL AMMENITIES Pool, Beach, Tennis, Jacuzzi, Parking for cars, Parking for boat trailers, Cleaning fee, unlimited local calls and high speed Wi-Fi access is included in our Resort Fee of $3 a day plus tax. This charge is automatically charged to each villa for each night. Resort Fee required on all reservations.
